Bentin Steve – Interview

K. Hello Steve. We haven't heard from you for a long time. what's new?
Steve Bentin.
Yes, in the last year of 2008 I took a break, had a gastrointestinal virus and had to stop training for 2 months. Now at the beginning of the year I weigh a slim 92kg in good shape!
Now I will really get back into training and my build-up phase!

K. What is your training like?
Steve Bentin.
I train split for 4 days.
Monday - shoulder, triceps
Tuesday - back, hamstrings, rear deltas
Wednesday - free
Thursday - chest, biceps
Friday - legs
I usually do gigs on Saturday and Sunday

K. How hard do you train and how many sets do you do per body part?
Steve Bentin.
During training, I do 3-4 exercises per muscle and 2-3 heavy sets until muscle failure with 6-8 reps. Only leg training usually do 10-12 because I don't want to train too hard because of the risk of injury and the knees!

K. Your legs are your trademark. Has it always been like this?
Steve Bentin.
When it comes to legs, I swear by squats, then leg presses and finally leg extensions - that's easy and best!

K. Are you planning competitions in 2009?
Steve Bentin. So this year I will probably not do competitions, but then in 2010 I will !!

K. What do you eat in the build-up phase?
Steve Bentin.
In the build-up phase I try to eat a lot and usually have to torment myself with the food every 2-3 hours, while I usually eat 500-600g carbohydrates, 300g protein, 100g fat a day! Spread over 6 meals.
Breakfast usually or always consists of 150g rice flakes with 50g whey isolate.
And my after workout shake is 100g Vitargo with 50g isolate, 10g glutamine and 5g BCAAS!

Otherwise before training there is usually oat flakes with long-term protein powder or rice flakes with protein powder 2 hours beforehand!
In between I like to eat beef fillet or turkey with rice or bread!
I drink 3-4 liters of water a day, once in a while also an apple spritzer !!

K. What changes in the preparation for the competition?
Steve Bentin.
In preparation for the competition, it looks like I only use rice as a source of KH for the first few weeks, which usually consist of 12 weeks, since I start with 500g rice a day and then every 2-4 weeks, down to 100g less Reduce rice until shortly before the competition 100g rice !!
I get protein from turkey, protein powder, lean beef tartare, eggs and, at the beginning of the diet, low-fat quark! Where I get 400g of protein a day and split it up into 8 meals !! Fat I only consume 2-3 teaspoons of flax and safflower oil !!
I drink 6-8 liters of water and later drainage tea !!

K. Cardio Training? You haven't heard anything about that yet ???
Steve Bentin.
Cardio training only comes in the bag when preparing for a competition, because otherwise I'm too lazy, and even in the off-season I have a pull-out stretcher! In the beginning I did the cardio for 30 minutes 4 times a week in the morning on an empty stomach and then for 60 minutes 7 times a week. increase!

K. There's not much room to sin, is there?
Steve Bentin.
In the diet phase, I do a "junk food day" once a week where I eat everything and as much as I like! Otherwise I become obnoxious and I am moody, aggressive and my girlfriend complains that she no longer has sex

K. Thanks for your interview Steve.
