Groulx Claude – Interview ( deutsch)

Q. You became a MASTER Olympia in 2003. How are you training at the moment?
Groulx Claude: I haven't competed in the last six months. Because I became the father of my little son. He is now eleven months. My training currently is mediocre with four days a week, training two parts of the body a day. I'm thinking about taking part in the competitions again towards the end of this year.

Q: Which muscle group do you prefer to work out? Please short training program.
Groulx Claude: I love to train my shoulders. I always start with exercises for the lateral deltoid, then continue with the back and finish with the anterior deltoid. I like to do rope exercises for the deltoid muscle to get a better separation.

Q: How do you split your exercise program?
Groulx Claude: Mondays I train my chest and biceps, Tuesdays my back and abs, Wednesdays my shoulders and triceps, Fridays my legs and calves. That's how I train between competitions. Before competitions, I train six days a week with 45 minutes of cardiovascular training every morning.

Q: How important is nutrition to you?
Groulx Claude: Since 2003 I have concentrated more on my diet between competitions. I avoid junk food as much as possible and try to keep my weight under 250 pounds. It usually takes me eight weeks to get my body in shape.

Q: What are the differences in your training and diet between and in preparation for a competition?
Groulx Claude: The training is much more intense. 16 weeks before the competition I start increasing my intensity a little each week until I have reached a certain shape. As for the food, I try to increase the calorie intake there at the beginning, especially with foods that contain protein. And eight weeks beforehand, I cut the carbohydrates very much.

Q: Paul Dillett started a bodybuilding association. Do you believe in his success?
Groulx Claude: I wish Paul all the best in his union. It's a tough market to work there, but its success will depend on your commitment.

Q: What would you recommend to our readers (training, nutrition ...)
Groulx Claude: In order to create a regularity for the diet and the training in the different phases, one should train less intensively for four to six weeks but a maximum of three months in order to recover and become mentally fit. It's good to relax your body from all the protein and give your kidneys a break.

Q: Bodybuilding has changed a lot in the last 20 years. What would you improve and why?
Groulx Claude: Bodybuilding has changed, but when you think about the fact that some people are doing it professionally and making a living from it, it's just not enough what you make from it. There are improvements in the marketing of the sport, but there is still a long way to go before mass adoption. We need a better representation of the athletes so that they get what they deserve.

Q: What are your plans for 2007?
Groulx Claude: My priorities at the moment are to look after my family and to consider whether I can take part in a competition in the fall.

Q: Who will Mr. Olympia 2007.
Groulx Claude: I believe that Victor Martinez will stay out of the stress. I consider him to be the one who has the most potential right now. I wouldn't rule Ronnie out. He said he would come again.
This guy is a wonder of nature that can surprise anyone.

Pass auf dich auf,
Claude

1. I did not compete this last 6 months since i became a father my son is now 11 months. My training right now is moderate with 4 days a week with 2 bodyparts per day. I am thinking to go back in competition in late 2007.

2. I love to train shoulders for the pump that i get. I always start with side delts exercise then a rear delt and front delt last. I like to use a lot of cable exercises for delt to get a better isolation

3. Monday chest and biceps, Tuesday back and abs, Wednesday shoulders and triceps, Friday legs and calves this is in off season. precontest I train six days a week with 45 minutes of cardio in the morning every day

4. Since 2003 I have put more importance to my diet in the offseason avoiding junk food as much as possible and keeping my body weight under 250 pounds. I normally need only 8 weeks of strict diet to get in shape

5.Training is a lot more intense, I start 16 weeks out from a show and increase the intensity gradually every single weeks till I get in the zone. For the food since my training are more demanding I increase the calories at the beginning specially the protein intake then at 8 weeks out I reduce the carbs intake.

6. I wish Paul the best with is new federation, it is a tough market to sell, the success will depend on is dedication to it.

7.To periodize your diet and training into different phase less intense to recuperate physiquely and mentally for 4 to 6 weeks at least every 3 months. It is good to relax your body from the high protein diet by reducing your intake and give a break to your kidneys.

8.Bodybuilding as change but when it comes to where the money goes there is still too little for the athletes who are professionals and make a carreer out of it. There is improvements in the marketing of the sport but we still have a long way to go to be recognize as mainstream. We need to get better representation for the athletes to be able to get what they deserves.

9. My priority is to take care of my family and if I can I would compete in a show in the fall .

10. I think that if Victor Martinez stay out of trouble and healthy he could be the one, as I see him as the guy with the most potential right now. I do not count Ronnie out as He said that he would be back, the guy is a freak of nature that can surprise everybody.
Take care
Claude
