Lee Haneys Olympic career is a catalog of superlatives:
- He won more Olympias than anyone else (eight: 1984-91);
- defeated more bodybuilders than anyone else in Olympic competition (83);
- traveled much more (all of his Olympic victories were in different cities - five in the United States and three in Europe);
- and weighed in his last Olympic victory (1991, when he Dorian Yates his last defeat achieved) 112 kg, which made him the heaviest winner of all time.
Owned apart from the crowd Haney flowing lines and a stage presence that kept anyone from defeating him.
After winning the Teenage Mr. America in 1979 Haney First NPC Nationals winner in 1982 and then won the IFBB Amateur World Championships that same year.
He finished third on his Olympic debut in 1983 at the age of 23, then took over his almost decade-long rule over the Olympic throne the following year.
Lee Haney lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with wife Shirley and two children and runs his own studio.
His religious background led him to found Harvest House, a charitable home for children from poor backgrounds.
