Leucine is probably the most important amino acid of all as it can increase muscle protein synthesis on its own. This "leucine trigger" has been adequately documented and requires one Dose of at least 2.5 g per food or drink servingto stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

Interestingly, a recent study showed that adding a 5g dose of leucine to 6.25g of WIP had the same muscle building power as 25g Whey Protein Isolat. This is useful information for dieting bodybuilders, as "pimping" WPI with extra leucine can be an effective way to cut down on total caloric intake while still maintaining lean mass.
