Mr. Olympia 2014

MR. OLYMPICS 2014 - PRELIMINARY DECISION

The Mr. Olympia 2014 preselection has ended. The favorites did their homework well. In the final it looks like a fight between Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Shawn Rhoden and Dennis Wolf. The athletes noticed the tension on the stage. The duel between Kai Greene and Phil Heath will definitely go down in bodybuilding history. Already at the press conference there were loud differences of opinion between the two, which also extended to the stage. I don't think that really helped Kai Green, you could tell Kai seemed very unfocused, which will cost him a few points. Phil Heath did his job very serenely, the way it should be for a Mr. Olympia.
Now to the individual athletes.

Branch Warren. Branch is not an aesthetic athlete, but fans like his freaki body. Branch is well prepared, unfortunately his waist looked very wide. The lower back and buttocks were also more defined.

Victor Martinez. Victor has very nice lines, but is not 100% defined, which is mainly noticeable in the legs. With a little luck, TOP 10 candidate.

Fred Small. Fred is not that small either, but his legs are not yet ready for the Mr. Olympia stage.

Shawn Rhoden. When you watch Shawn, you think of Flex Wheeler in the best of days. Narrow joints, round muscles, top press coverage on stage. Shawn is in very good shape and a Top3 candidate for me.

Ibrahim Fahim | Ibrahim still needs about 10kg of muscle to keep up with the big boys.

Steve Kuclo. Nice proportions a`la Francis Benfatto in the 90th Steve is well defined, but with a light film of water under the skin.

Dexter Jackson. The "old" Mr. Olympia, who should cause a sensation this year. I don't think Dexter is as sharply defined as it was in the old days.
Respect that at 45 you can still achieve such a form. With a little luck top 6.

Johnny Jackson. The old problem, legs don't fit upper body. If Johnny doesn't improve his legs a lot, he'll have a hard time in professional buissines.

Jonathan Delarosa. Not optimally defined and still too easy for the TOP 10.

Roelly Winklaar. Very massive, unfortunately also at the waist, which he has no control over. Roelly is too heavy.

William Bonac. William looks like Kai Green's little brother. Round muscles, very well defined. I think William was overlooked by the judges on stage.

Jojo Intiforo. Good shape. Unfortunately too narrow for the Mr. Olympia stage.

Big Ramy (Elssbiay, Mamdouh). Mass, mass, mass these are three words that best describe the Ramy. Big Ramy put even more mass on his body. It is not only massive, but also very well defined. Narrow waist, cracked legs, broad shoulders. Big Ramy doesn't need to hide behind Kai Green or Dennis Wolf.

Joan Morel. Nice proportions, very aesthetic. Looked very slim next to Big Ramy. If he packs a few more kilos in the right place, it can be a candidate for TOP 5.

Dennis Wolf. Dennis after his win at Arnold's Classic 2014, was considered one of the top contenders for the title. He's in great shape. Very narrow waist which makes his cracked shoulders look even wider. Great definition. I think he surpassed Arnold's shape. For me a TOP 3 candidate.

Kai Greene. First to his body. Kai is a little lighter than last year, but more defined. Doesn't look so cluttered anymore. Kai has the most muscles, on stage, he can present himself well ... unfortunately not today! Kai is too busy provoking Phil Heath and that makes him seem too unfocused on stage.
I hope in the final he will reconsider otherwise he will be overtaken by Shawn Rhoden or Dennis Wolf.

Phil Heath. The best Phil Heath ever. Phil definitely did everything right, super defined, good proportions. They say Mr. Olympia wins with a good back, Phil definitely has one of the best backs in Mr. Olympia's history. By far the best athlete on the stage. I don't think anything can stop Phil Heath from winning the 2014 Mr. Olympia. Kai Green will have to have his autograph cards reprinted.

Callouts

1. Rhoden, Green, Heath
2. Martinez, Dexter Jackson, Warren, Wolf, Big Ramy
3. Winkleer, Johny Jackson, Kiclo, Morel, Delarosa, Jojo Intiforo
4. Wolf, Rhoden, Green, Heath,

MR. OLYMPIA 2014 – FINALE

The new, old Mr. Olympia is Phil Heath. He won confidently in top form and was able to take home the check for $ 175,000. Second place was given to Kai Green. For many viewers incomprehensible.
Third was the much improved Shawn Rhoden.

HEATH AND CUTLER INTERVIEW AFTER NO. OLYMPIA 2014

Q: Phil, first of all, congratulations on the win. We were expecting you would blow everyone away on Friday, but you didn't. How was it then to get into the competition on Saturday?
Phil Heath:
Obviously Friday was very, very tough, but we fought our way back. My trainer recognized where the mistake was, we corrected it and then I'm the one who had to do better on Saturday.
My coach makes the plan, I implement it, and then we win the game.
All of this also goes to him, my team and my family. To have that support is amazing. It's always tough against the guys, but with that kind of support I couldn't train hard.

Jay Cutler:
It was to be expected, I know what he had to go through and I knew his body was capable of winning. Phil did everything right, he acted like a champion and like a pro this weekend. I had no doubt he wouldn't win last night.
Of course you can argue about whether it was comparable to his other victories, but I was a winner myself and the expectations are very high and it's about who you stand next to. That's what matters. When I was standing next to Ron Coleman on stage, I was a bit wider and when Ron, when he was no longer there, I was a bit narrower. But I think Phil did his job well. And the next step is the magic 5.

Q: Phil I don't want to hold you long, I know your wife is waiting and there, a big party is waiting for you, but I want to hear your thoughts, what's next for Phil Heath?
Phil Heath:
The first thing is to eat and spend time with my family.
As for competitions, I'll be thinking about it soon.
We had a good plan and now we're going to develop an offseason plan, my coach and I are very good at it. And then maybe fight for the 5th title?

OLYMPIA 2014

Q: I'm standing here next to Kai Green, who finished second. Kai how are you feeling?
Kai Greene:
Oh man, I don't know, I'm still thinking and I'm still dirty from the oil, but I'm very grateful to where I am now. I received a lot of encouragement and it was a lot of work, but we also have a lot of work to do.

Q: Many people put you in first place in the preliminary decision, how did you feel?
Kai Greene:
You can't say that, I'm an athlete and not a referee and I could compare, but that's not in my hands.
I just work hard and hope it pays off in the end.

Q: Did you think you would win?
Kai Greene:
Yes, I thought I was going to win and I believe the possibility still exists, I believe in unlimited possibilities. Circumstances and situations do not tell who a person is, but what he makes of these circumstances.

Q: How is the situation after the heated press conference, between Phil Heath and you?
Kai Greene:
There is no situation there, as an athlete he had a task to be in good shape and to present himself well and in the opinion of the judges, he fulfilled it.
At the end of the day, I have made this decision not to question but to accept. All I can do is understand what is important to me and what I want to do, and focus on that.
And then work with dedication. I look forward to the tasks that come my way and I always look forward.

Q: What are your reasons not to do the European tour?
Kai Greene:
At the moment it is still too early to say, because I went into the competition with the expectation to win it, we are currently looking for other possibilities.

SHAWN RHODEN INTERVIEW AFTER MR. OLYMPIA 2014

Q: Shawn you moved 3rd and 4th last year, I'd like to compliment you. How are you feeling right now?
Shawn Rhoden:
I'm very happy to be in the top 3 again, it was hard work after the Arnold's 2014. I think we could have gone one better, that makes me very happy.

Q: Yes you can be happy, you were amazing.
Shawn Rhoden:
I'm very excited to see what's to come, the best is yet to come.

Q: You will also fly to Spain, when do you start?
Shawn Rhoden:
I will fly to Spain to Arnold Classic Europe 2014 and from Spain to Dubai Pro 2014, from Dubai to Prague to EVLS 2014 and then to Italy. Some people called me crazy, but the only way you will stay in memories is if you keep showing up. And I'm a huge bodybuilding fan and I'm just excited to be able to do that.

DENNIS WOLF INTERVIEW MR. OLYMPIA 2014

Q: Dennis how is it for you to be 4th, many professionals got you 3rd, or even better? You looked a little annoyed after the preaching.
Dennis Wolf:
It hurts because I know I was better than Shawn Rhoden. That's what I think not the judges or the fans. For me it was impossible for Shawn to sit in front of me.

Q: A lot of people around me got you 3rd, but what's next? Because there are still a few shows in Europe and Dubai.
Dennis Wolf:
4th place hurts when you know you've been better. On Saturday at the preliminary round of the 2014 Mr. Olympia, I was a little flat but dry, but on Sunday I was broad and dry.
The other guys weren't in top shape, that means something is wrong for me. If you win Mr. Olympia or get 2nd or 3rd place and you weren't in top shape.

Q: Is there retaliation for you on the tour?
Dennis Wolf:
Yes, of course, I will have to swallow the defeat and tomorrow I will eat and fly to Arnold Classic Europe 2014 in Spain on Monday. And try to beat Shawn Rhoden there.

Q: It's cool to have a Spanish Arnolds next to the American Arnolds.
Dennis Wolf:
It will be my 3rd Arnolds in Madrid, the first I lost to Shawn, the second against Phil Heath and Kai Greene at the Mr. Olympia 2014 it was close, but in Spain it will be completely different.

WHEELER AND CUTLER ABOUT MR. OLYMPIA 2014

Q: Flex is that what you expected? (Mr. Olympia 2014)
Flex Wheeler: No it's not, I thought Phil is a little harder. Kai, is what you would expect from him, I was surprised when he made his poses that his muscles were not exposed. My surprise was Shawn Rhoden, I'm really excited to see what else he has to offer.Q: Jay, you as a 4-time Mr. Olympia and a good friend of Phil Heath, how do you feel?
Jay Cutler:
I think Shawn has good lines and generally had a good overall package. Phil looked a little too flat. You could also see that all the athletes were not in top form, except maybe Shawn Rhoden. And Shawn has put on the best of all compared to last year.Flex Wheeler: And considering that Shawn had a broken toe 5 months ago, I looked to see if one leg might look weaker, but it wasn't.
I was also surprised by Branch Warren, last year he almost knocked out of the top 10 and today his condition convinced me.Jay Cutler: I think so too, but Dennis Wolf and Big Ramy pushed him out of the top 6. When Branch came on stage, you thought Hey, where is this guy from? On the back he was simply missing a bit of definition to really crack the top 6.Flex Wheeler: I said it before today, give Big Ramy a few more years because he went from 0 to 1000 this year. And he didn't even have enough time to gain enough experience.

Jay Cutler: It's crazy, Big Ramy is the only one who can lose muscle and still be fatter than anyone.

Flex Wheeler: I have another one who really convinced me today and made it into the top 6: Viktor Martinez. I'm not surprised, because at the end of the last shows Viktor was really in top form.

Jay Cutler: really impressive and for a minute I thought he was going to be 4th.

Jay Cutler: You know who I got higher up, William Boneck. Boneck just wasn't really noticed.

Flex Wheeler: Well it's his first Mr. Olympia and it's easy to be overlooked.

Jay Cutler: Winklaar just wasn't into it, he was 7 last year and he just looked too fat and bulky.

Flex Wheeler: He made the mistake of getting into the competition as big and big as possible and because of that he may not even make TOP 10.
