Born: October 31, 1930
Bill Pearl was an outstanding wrestler in the U.S. Navy before turning his attention to bodybuilding.
He won the Mr. America title in 1953 and a year later came first in the NABBA Amateur Mr. Universe.
His big victories were the NABBA Professional Mr. Universe in 1961, 1967 and 1971 as well as the Mr. USA in 1956. Bill Pearl broke the boundaries with its combination of proportion and mass. When he won Mr. Universe in 1971, when he was 41 years old Sergio Oliva beat, weighed Bill Pearl 107 kg, which was amazing for a man under 1.83 m at the time. After he finished his competitive career, was Bill Pearl one of the leading training authorities in the sport and mentor, among others, of the 1982 Mr. Olympia, Chris Dickerson.
Bill's first bodybuilding book, Keys to the Inner Universe, was quickly recognized as a seedwork. Known beyond his stage appearances is Bill Pearl Famous as a true gentleman of the sport, his fame has not changed him.
He now lives in Medford, Oregon and is the co-author of the recent book Getting in Shape.
