Piotrkowicz Robert

Piotrkowicz Robert - Interview

K. Hello Robert, your career has only lasted 5 years. What's your secret to becoming the best in the world in such a short time?
Robert Piotrkowicz: I have no secrets. I started bodybuilding by chance.
My wife was training in the studio and I would pick her up there sometimes.
One day I tried one device, then the next, and that's how it all started.

K. Does that mean that everyone can become world champion if you only train a lot and hard ...?
Robert Piotrkowicz: That would be too nice, I know many who train much longer and harder than me and have not yet become world champions.
It is genetically determined how the body reacts to stress and training.
I react very quickly to training and I've never had any problems with building muscle. In addition, I have a very good basis because I was active in various sports disciplines from a young age.

K. Which sports did you find fascinating?
Robert Piotrkowicz: I trained in karate as a teenager, did powerlifting and weightlifting during my studies, I was even a Polish champion and set Polish records in bench press and squat.

K. Despite being so successful, you quit powerlifting.
Robert Piotrkowicz: Yes, I had a few minor injuries that made training difficult for me. But powerlifting was a good motor base for bodybuilding. Now I can bench 10 times and do 8 deadlifts with 250 kg.

K. Then you're back to karate. But martial arts are a completely different strain on the body, where speed, endurance and coordination are trained and not muscle mass and strength as in bodybuilding. I still don't understand how to become the best built man in the world in just 4 years.
Robert Piotrkowicz: As I said, it's a question of genetics. My body responds very well to exercise. When I started karate, I did around 15 pull-ups, and in a few weeks it was 100. It was similar with push-ups. I'm just lucky to have inherited the genes.

K. You quit karate too?
Robert Piotrkowicz: Yes, I needed new challenges. I started bodybuilding when I was 80 kg. Within a short time my body weight has increased to 132 kg. Unfortunately it wasn't dry muscle substance. When I train intensely, I'm just hungry, so I had to eat 7 times a day. During that time I used about 7000 calories. A body weight of over 130 kg is of course anything but healthy. You can't climb stairs, longer walks have exhausted me. My resting heart rate was around 80 beats. I think it's not healthy.

K. And then you transformed yourself into world champion?
Robert Piotrkowicz: The first thing I did was change my diet, cut down on carbohydrates and replace them with healthy fats, and my training also changed, I started aerobic exercise. In the beginning 3 times a week 30 min. Ergometer, later even up to 60 minutes every day. My body responded really well and within 12 months my fat percentage dropped massively. At the moment I don't do cardio between competitions. I pay close attention to my diet and this keeps my fat very consistently low.

K. So it was a special diet that made you a world champion ...?
Robert Piotrkowicz: It is not a secret knowledge of what I eat.
I pay close attention to my diet: I like to eat basmati rice, instead of pasta, I eat whole wheat pasta. I take linen oil with every meal. I eat 7-8 times a day. It's about 4000 - 4800 calories. My goal is to build muscle mass without gaining fat. Now I weigh about 126 kg, my fat percentage is always below 15%. I want to compete in my next competition with about 115 kg.

K. I heard you are planning your professional career. How do you see your chances Jay Cutler, Dexter Jackson ….. ?
Robert Piotrkowicz: It's very difficult to say, in professional business there are completely different rules. Last year did Dexter Jackson in the Mr. Olly won. It's lighter and more proportioned than a lot of mass athletes, but I don't know if the trend will continue.

K. But it would be better for you if proportions and muscle quality were also important in professional bodybuilding.
Robert Piotrkowicz: Yes, of course, but you don't know in which direction the sport will develop. Since I've already won everything among the amateurs, I need new challenges. I would like to try to establish myself with the professionals. My sponsor supports me financially, so nothing stands in the way.

K. When are you planning your professional debut?
Robert Piotrkowicz: I will be for the competition on 08/07 in Tempa, then Europe Show and maybe Grand Prix in Romania.

K. We wish you the best of luck and will of course report on the competitions on our portal
