Rich Piana Training

Rich Pianas Training philosophy is based on an individual body - everyone has a different physique, different diet and different lifestyle.

His bodybuilding philosophy is based on the fact that extreme workouts are not necessary to build a good body. The athletes should learn to listen to the needs of their bodies.

Rich advocates the use of lighter weights with high repetitions.

According to Rich, exercise programs are completely useless because every body is different - so every body reacts differently to different exercises.

Rich Piana Interview

(Marz 2016)

Q: Hi Rich. Many are interested in your training philosophy. Hard and hard or do you have other training secrets?
Rich Piana: I train instinctively. Usually I listen to my body and train the part of the body that is feeling strong that day.

Q: What is your workout like?
Rich Piana: Since I listen to my body and only train instinctively, I don't have a training program or training split. Believe me, sometimes I do 2 sets of pull-ups and if I don't feel the muscles properly, I switch immediately and keep doing pull-ups until I feel the pump. Then I do 10 KILL IT sentences!

Q: What are your maximum bench press, deadlift, and squat weights?

Rich Piana: Weights?

Bench press: 225kg (495lb) for 3 reps

Squats: 265kg (585lb) for 2 reps

Deadlift: 265kg (585lb) for 1 rep

Barbell curls: 125kg (275lb) for 3 reps

I used to do barbell curls for 61kg / 20 reps, then 84kg / 16Wh, followed by 102kg for 10-12 reps in 3 sets! Needless to say, I only train with correct technique.

Q: We hear you're not a fan of traditional cardio on the treadmill. How do you stay in good shape without cardio?

Rich Piana: I love MMA and weight training. I do my cardio sessions with MMA fighters. It's the toughest training unit I've ever done.

Q: What are your favorite exercises and why?
Rich Piana: I love cables! When I was younger, cable exercises were for pussies.

Now I like to train on the cable. The cable exercises give me the best pumps and muscle contraction, and I can really focus on what I'm doing.

Q: Please describe what intensification techniques do you find in your training?

Rich Piana: I like to emphasize the negative part of the movement and to contract the muscles very hard.

Q: Which parts of your body did you have the most problems with? And how did you manage to even out the problem areas?
Rich Piana: My arms and chest have always been the toughest for me !! I've been obsessively exercising my arms for 32 years! For 2 years I exercised my arms every night before bed!

Then came my back and legs. To relax, I go to deep tissue massage 3 times a week, it helps me survive my hard training sessions.
Q: What advice would you give to people trying to find the best exercise program?

Rich Piana: You have to learn to listen to your body and not just haphazardly follow programs you read somewhere. Only you know which exercises are best for you!
Q: What is your diet like?
Rich Piana: The truth is, a lot of bodybuilders eat the same thing over and over again: oatmeal, chicken, rice, and everyone cut down on carbohydrates at night.

All eat 6-10 meals a day. That's not what I was going to call fun.

In the past, I have likely tortured myself through a competitive diet, meal timing to get into extreme competitive form.

Q: Is this an approach that you are still using or is it no longer necessary?

Rich Piana: I don't torture myself anymore! I have fun and I love to train hard and I love to eat!
Q: What are some of your favorite cheat meals?

Rich Piana: I once gained 25kg in just 5 days after a competition.

I'm really a gobbler. I really eat EVERYTHING and A LOT!

Q: I'm big fans of yours 5% Nutrition Products. How did you come up with the idea for a new nutrition line?
Rich Piana: For me it has always been important that the products complement and not replace nutrition. All 5% Nutrition products can also be combined with normal meals.

All day you may is the product for me! You can drink it like a drink all day or combine it with your meals!
I wanted to make the best pre-workout supplement in the world. So is KILL IT originated.

Q: What is your vision for yourself and 5% nutrition over the next 5 years?
Rich Piana: I have a mission to make the supplements industry better and to develop the bodybuilding community!

I won't stop until everyone realizes the truths and changes that need to be made in both industries!

At this year's USA Championships, there were 900 participants who each paid $ 300 entry fee. That's $ 270,000 entry fees, and the winners will receive 15 trophies!
There is no taboo subject when it comes to Rich Piana.
Q: Will you finally tell us your favorite saying?

Rich Piana: "1dayumay". Achieve Your Dreams! Never give up! Work every day and believe you can achieve your goals!
Q: Thanks for the interview.
