Savickas Zydrunas

Savickas Zydrunas - Profile

Zydrunas Savickas was born on July 15th, 1975 in Birzai Lithuania.
As a child, he was bigger and stronger than his classmates.
He started doing sports in 1989. After seeing the strongest men in the world on TV, Zydrunas decided to start weight training. Just three years later, he won his first powerlifting competition. As a 16 year old boy he was stronger than his competitors, who were much older. In his second competition he already improved the Lithuanian record in powerlifting. Zydrunas is the first and only athlete in Lithuania who does 400 kg squats. In the KDK he broke the 1000 kg limit. 1998 was a very successful year for him as a strongman and powerlifter. In 1999 Zydrunas injured his knee, many were very skeptical about his future career. Nobody wanted to believe that he would come back again. Only nine months later Zydrunas is back and wins everything you can win in Lithuania.
As of 2003 he is unbeaten as a strongman. He talks about his training and motivation in our interview.
